Program overview

The Barnstormers is the travel baseball program affiliated with the Hayner Brothers Baseball Academy. The Barnstormers program was established in 2000. For six years we operated as a fall season only travel program fielding teams at the 13u, 14u, 15u, 16u and 18u levels. In 2014, we re-established the Barnstormers as an 18u summer travel program giving players the opportunity to play and train in the fall, winter and summer. In ten years, we have grown our program slowly and strategically to offer a quality experience for the players and families in our program.  For the 2024/2025 travel season we will offer teams at the 13u, 14u 15u, 16u, 17u and 18u levels.  Tryouts for new teams are conducted in July and August.   For more information about try outs go to our tryout page.

We have been fortunate over the years to attract great players and families. We are proud of what our players and teams have accomplished. As our players pursue their baseball goals, we strive to help in the process and provide quality opportunities. Although we attend some of the best showcase tournaments in our region (Diamond Nation Super 17, Boston Invitational, Boston Open by Prospect Select, Perfect Game, Champions Events - PBR Events, Firecracker) we do not bill our teams as “showcase” teams. We want a team of players that strive to be the best they can both collectively and individually. We build our teams by selecting players and families that fit into our team environment. We look for players that have the desire, tools and skill to play baseball at a high level. Our mission, is to play good, team baseball. Within that framework we help players continue to develop their baseball profile and thus improve their college opportunities. We want to build an atmosphere and culture that is conducive to fun, skill development and competitiveness. Our players typically come from many different high schools within 1.5 hours of our base of operations in Halfmoon. Players and families are committed to our program and it is our aim to provide the best possible travel baseball experience for each family.

Since 2014, 70 of our players have gone on to play college baseball and three are currently playing professional baseball. Most recently, Tyler Mattison '17 graduate of Fort Ann HS drafted in 6th round by Detroit Tigers out of Bryant University and Brett Rodriguez '16 graduate of Queensbury HS and '20 graduate of Wofford College signed a professional contract with the Seattle Mariners.  Current college commits include Jake Reinisch and Carson Cotugno (Wake Forest), Connor Bovair (U. of North Carolina/Chapel Hill, Chris Erickson (Siena), Chase Carroll and Matt Mariano (UAlbany), Sam Law (Brockport), Nick Lemire and Patrick McGuire (St. John Fisher), Anthony Ruzzo (Union) and Ryan Brown (RPI). In eight years, our teams have won numerous tournaments. Most recently, our 2020 16u team won the Champions Events PBR Hudson Valley Battle.  Our 2019 - 17u team went 6-0 to capture the Firecracker Battle of the Border Tournament and our 2019 13u team captured the ENYTB Summer Blast Championship. Our 2018 – 18u team achieved a record of 26-5-1 and won three tournaments including the 50 team Boston Open finishing a perfect 7-0.
