“Barnstormers” Fall Baseball Program

NOTE: The Barnstormers Fall Baseball program will not be offered this coming fall. Please check back in the future for information as to when it will be resumed.

Goals and Objectives
The “Barnstormers” Fall Baseball Program is for players who want a competitive, complete developmental fall baseball experience, not just games. Under the direction of Norm and Ken Hayner, this instructional program is directed toward players who wish to accelerate their transition to freshman, JV and varsity baseball, and who have an interest in further developing their skills heading into the indoor “off season”.

Eligibility
1. Open to high school players age 13 - 18.
2. There will be at least one team formed for each of the following age groups: 18 & under, 15 & under and a 13 year old (only) team. In addition, there will be one 18 & under north country team comprised of players from north of Saratoga Springs.
3. All age levels are targeted toward full-time positional players and pitchers. Participants are expected to attend all practices and games.

Length of Program
The program begins the first week in September and concludes in mid-October.

Practices and Games
1. All home games and practices will be held at Harris Field (200 yards south of The Sports Barn). Some practices may be held at The Sports Barn.
2. Scheduling will include both weekday and weekend events. Mid-week practices and games will begin after 4:15pm.
3. The majority of games will be played on weekends. Competition will consist of games against local teams, away day trips outside the Capital District, and some weekend overnight trips.

North Country 18 and Under Team
For the convenience of families and players from the North, a varsity age team will once again be formed and coached by Bob Bogdan, current assistant coach at Skidmore College and former varsity coach at South Glens Falls H. S. Practices and home games will be played at Moreau Recreation Park. Tryouts will be conducted at regularly scheduled dates and times in Halfmoon.

Tryout Information
To ensure a quality playing experience for all, tryouts will be held to determine the roster of each team. All players wishing to participate are expected to attend the tryouts. Those who cannot attend due to legitimate reasons must call The Sports Barn at 664-4537 to see if alternative arrangements can be made. Tryouts are being held in mid-July so that those not making the team(s) will have sufficient time to play elsewhere.
