  • Ken Hayner (Co-Owner)

    Specializes in Hitting, Pitching, and Fielding


    • Since 2014, Ken has been the Director and Head Coach of the Hayner Academy Barnstormers Travel Baseball Program.  In 4 seasons, 29 players from the Barnstormers Program have gone on to play college baseball with 7 at the NCAA Division I level.
    • Head Baseball Coach at Hartwick College 1988 - 1998.  Was named Empire Athletic Association Coach of the Year in 1992 and 1993.  Received Louisville Slugger Coaching Award in 1994.  Led '94 team to NCAA New York Regional Tournament.  '92, '94 and '96 teams captured ECAC Upstate New York Championship.
    • Served as Assistant Coach at Siena College '84, '85, '87 and UMass/Amherst. '86.
    • In 1982 played professionally as a shortstop for the Utica Blue Sox of the New York-Penn League and received NY-Penn League's Achievement Award for development.
    • Former Division I player and graduate of Siena College '82. 
    • Received M.S. in Sport Management from UMass/Amherst in '87.
    • Member of the New York State Baseball Hall of Fame, Siena College Sports HOF, Shenendehowa Athletic HOF and Albany Twilight League HOF.



  • Norm Hayner (Co-Owner)

    Specializes in hitting, pitching, Catching

    • Norm currently coaches the Barnstormers 15u Travel Baseball Team.
    • Varsity Baseball Coach at Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake H.S. 1995 - 2000.  Led Spartans to 1998 Section II Class A title, Region IV title and runner up finish at NY State final four.
    • Former Pitching Coach at UMass/Amherst, Siena College, Skidmore College and Schenectady C.C.
    • Division I catcher and graduate of Siena College ('85).
    • Earned M.S. in Sport Management at UMass/Amherst ('92)
    •  Former Player/Manager of Apex Printing in Albany Twilight League, achieving 3 consecutive league championships, 3 NYS AABC Stan Musial Division Titles, 1 AABC North Atlantic Regional Championship and 2 runner ups and a 3rd place finish at the 1989 Stan Musial World Series in Battle Creek, Michigan.
    •  Member of the Shenendehowa Athletic Hall of Fame and Albany Twilight League Hall of Fame


  • Dennis Healy

    Specializes in Pitching

    • Dennis was the Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for Wake Forest University from 2010 – 2014.
    • Wake Forest’s Recruiting Class of 2013 was nationally ranked and the Demon Deacons earned bid’s to the ACC Tournament in 2011, 2012 and 2014      
    • From 2005 – 2009 Dennis was the Head Baseball Coach at Marist College.  Dennis led the 2009 team to the MAC Conference Championship and NCAA Division I Regionals.    
    • Dennis has also served as assistant coach at George Washington University, University of New Orleans and Cleveland State University.       
    • Dennis is a 1996 graduate of George Washington University where he was a standout pitcher and captain of the team.  In his senior year Dennis finished with a 7-3 record and his 2.25 ERA was 12th best in the country in NCAA Division I.     
    • Dennis earned his master’s degree in Sport Management from Cleveland State University in 1999.      
    • Dennis joined the Hayner Academy Staff in 2014.


  • Tim Christman

    Specializes in Pitching and Hitting

    • Tim was a left-handed pitcher in professional baseball for 10 seasons.      
    • He reached the major leagues with the Colorado Rockies in 2001.     
    • Tim was an 11th round draft pick of the Rockies in the 1996 draft after an illustrious career at Siena College.  
    • Tim spent time in 5 different MLB organizations including the Mariners, Marlins, Tigers, Cubs and Rockies. 
    • After his playing career, Tim transitioned into coaching.  In 2007 and 2008, Tim was the pitching coach at UAlbany.  Tim helped lead them to their first ever America East Conference Championship in 2007.   
    • He has also served as pitching coach at The College of St. Rose in 2009 and 2010.   
    • Tim has been an instructor with the Hayner Academy since 2000.     
  • Mike McFerran

    • Mike is currently the pitching coach for Skidmore College.
    • Mike served as pitching coach for Hayner Academy Barnstormers 18u Travel Team in 2016
    • Mike pitched for DII power Lynn University in Boca Raton and graduated in 2016 with an MBA in Sport Management.
    • Mike pitched 2 seasons (2014-2015) with the Glens Falls Dragons of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League.
    • Mike pitched 2 seasons (2012-2013) with the Martha's Vineyard Sharks of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League.
    • During the Summer 2017 – Mike served as Assistant General Manager and Director of Baseball Operations for the Glens Falls Dragons (PGCBL).
    • Mike is currently an Associate Scout in the Albany Area for the Rockland Boulders of the Can-Am Independent League.
  • Ed Dempsey

    Specializes in Hitting, Catching, Pitching, Fielding

    •   4 -year starter and 3 - year co-captain at Division I St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia.  1983 Team MVP.  All conference in 1981 and 1983.  ECAC All-Conference 1st team in 1981.  Atlantic 10 All-Star in 1983.  Career Award Recipient.
    • Member of St. Joseph's University Hall of Fame
    • While at St. Joseph’s was a teammate and catcher for long time major league pitcher Jamie Moyer
    • Played 2 years for Long Island Nationals of Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League
    • From 1994 – present, Ed has coached at various high school and club baseball programs throughout the Capital District including LaSalle Institute, Shenendehowa HS, Clifton Park Baseball League and the Hayner Academy Barnstormers.
    • Ed joined the Hayner Academy Staff in 2012


  • Will Horan

    Specializes in Hitting, Pitching, and Catching

    • Since 2015, Will has served as an instructor in the Hayner Academy Barnstormers Travel Baseball Program.
    • Will served as assistant baseball coach at Schenectady Community College and assistant varsity baseball coach at Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake H.S.  Served as head JV coach at Burnt Hills in 2006.
    • Played at Schenectady C.C. in 2002 and 2003.  Finished with a .400 career batting average.  In 2003 was named 1st Team All-Conference, All Region and 2nd team All-American.
    • 3 - year varsity starting catcher for Norm Hayner at BH-BL H.S. 1999-2001.  First team Suburban Council All-Star in 1999 and member of Adirondack Region Empire State Games Team in 2000.
    • Attendee of Hayner Academy development program from age 10 through college and is the first ever Academy graduate to join lessons staff, doing so in 2006.
